The Information Resource Center (IRC)
General Information
The Information Resource Center (IRC) is a component of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Haiti. It is a reference research center which aims at providing comprehensive and authoritative information on issues such as U.S. Policy, Democratization, Rule of Law and Human Rights, Trade Liberalization, and Media in the United States to those who need to make informed decisions.
The IRC emphasizes both electronic resources and books. It has a collection of reference books, periodicals, pamphlets, and a variety of electronic resources. It provides also on-line access to the latest US governmental information and legislation.
The Center is intended to meet the needs of professionals, including government policy makers and other sector officials, political leaders, business people, journalists, students and those whose work require them to have in-depth information about the United States.
IRC services also include:
- Education USA academic advising: If you would like to study in the United States call to make an appointment with the Education USA local adviser!
- English Forum magazines for teachers: Call us to receive back or current issues of this great tool for all English instructors!
- English as a Foreign Language (EFL) resource books for teachers and students : sold at a democratic price!
- Democratie pour Tous/Demokrati pou tout moun manuals : Our trademark civic education manual is available for schools, institutions, and organizations wishing to promote education and human rights!
- Fulbright Alumni networking: if you are an alumnus/a of a United States government Fulbright or International Visitor Program or you know someone who is, contact us to register and become a member of the Haitian Fulbright Alumni Association (HAFA)!
- Local Schools and Libraries Partnerships: You are active in your community and you have a solid audience? Contact us to find out if you are eligible to host or help sponsor a Public Diplomacy thematic event/activity or to find out if you are eligible to receive courtesy books to enhance your library!
