Multiple sources report the planning of demonstrations in the Cap Haitien area September 27 and 28 to protest food prices. As community and business operations will most certainly be affected, it is advisable to consult contacts and postpone travel until after the weekend. It is anticipated that these demonstrations may continue and/or branch out to other provinces. As media outlets report in advance on these demonstrations, they should be easily avoidable. As always, please travel with caution, and avoid any/all large public gatherings of protest as they can turn violent abruptly.
