Demonstrations Planned for Port-au-Prince and Cap Haitien

As has been widely reported, there are several planned demonstrations for today, March 29, 2012, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Haitian Constitution. A demonstration is planned to occur in the downtown, Port-au-Prince area, near the St. Jean Bosco Church located on Blvd. Jean Jacques Dessalines (Grand Rue).

A demonstration is also scheduled to occur in Cap Haitien. The exact location in Cap Haitien is unknown.

The U.S. Embassy would like to remind U.S. citizens to exercise caution if traveling to the affected areas. Please note, traffic in the affected areas may be gridlocked if the demonstrations occur as planned. Should you encounter any large crowds, demonstrations, or marches leave the area immediately. If we receive more detailed information on routes and areas, we will further advise.
