Multiple Demonstrations in Port-au-Prince
December 2, 2011
The demonstration in Petionville has partially been dispersed by the Haitian National Police but is still ongoing. A crowd of approximately 400 demonstrators are now marching near Place St. Pierre in Petionville. The Haitian National Police have deployed tear gas.
A second demonstration is occurring in the downtown Port-au-Prince near the former U.S. Embassy. Protestors are throwing bottles, stones, and objects at passing vehicles.
All travel to the downtown area should be rescheduled.
All U.S. citizens should avoid Place St. Pierre in Petionville.
