The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince is proud to announce that twenty seven (27) Haitian women entrepreneurs will be traveling to the United States on October 13, 2012 to participate in the State Department & Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Initiative, a five-year investment to provide 10,000 underserved women around the world with a business management education.  The program is part of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Americas Initiative which seeks to break down barriers for women starting businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Haitian women entrepreneurs will spend two weeks at Thunderbird University taking intensive business skills training and entrepreneurship courses, visiting businesses, and meeting with American women business leaders.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated, “Initiatives like 10,000 Women invest in the economic empowerment of women to promote stability and prosperity around the globe.” Through this program the Haitian participants acquire knowledge on how to manage their business and better contribute to Haiti’s economic growth by creating job opportunities, increase financial returns, have a stronger social impact, and help formalize small businesses.  We wish all twenty seven ladies the best of luck and look forward to the positive impact they will make on the Haitian economy.
