Scheduling an appointment

Adjudication of immigrant visa petitions filed by persons who reside in the United States is the responsibility of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). After USCIS approval, the immigrant visa petition is sent to the National Visa Center for further processing.  The National Visa Center (NVC) collects immigrant visa application forms, Affidavit of Support forms, and fee payments for U.S. Consulates.

When the immigrant visa application priority date is current, the NVC will collect all required forms and fees. The National Visa Center will schedule the applicant for his/her immigrant visa interview with the consular section.

Should an individual want information on which priority dates are being processed at any particular time, s/he can call the Department of State's pre-recorded "cut-off date" announcement at (202) 663-1541.

If you have missed your appointment and wish to reschedule it, you should first create a profile at Once you’ve made your profile, you should send a request through that portal for a new interview date.
