Senator Nelson Visits Haiti

U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-Florida) visited Port-au-Prince June 26-28 to discuss with Haitian leaders continued U.S. cooperation with Haiti in support of economic development, the fight against drug trafficking, security, and disaster relief.

During his visit, Senator Nelson met with Haitian President René Préval as well as with Haitian Prime Minister Michele Pierre-Louis.

Senator Nelson toured the Haitian National Police Commissariat in Cité Soleil, the Haitian Coast Guard’s facility at Killick, and a USAID agricultural project near Croix-des-Bouquets that provides food and employment opportunities to Haitians affected by last year’s devastating storms.  He also met with Haitian business leaders to discuss Haiti’s investment climate.
