POSITION:            Travel Assistant FSN-7; FP-7*
OPENING DATE:     June 25, 2007
CLOSING DATE:     July 9, 2007
WORK HOURS:       Full-time; 40 hours/week

NOTE: ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti is seeking individual for the position of Travel Assistant in the Management Section.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION: Incumbent arranges for the travel of all employees.  Acts as a guide and lends support to the control officer or head of agency on all logistical needs of VIP visit.   Performs daily program management functions. Supervises the daily expediting activity of incoming and outgoing Mission Personnel. Handles hotel reservations, room assignments, pre-check for groups.  Serves as hostess occasionally.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Completion of secondary school and some collegiate study required. 
2. Minimum of three years of responsible experience in the travel field.
3. Level IV (English, Creole and French) ability Speaking/Reading is required.
4. Good working knowledge of the State Department Travel regulations.
5. Must be tactful in dealing with a variety of mission employees.
6. Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.

SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
I. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
